Bowie Transmission has been a part of the community since 1968, when it was established by Donald Crist and Gary Bennett. Built on a foundation of hard work, integrity, and quality craftsmanship, the shop quickly became known for dependable transmission service you could trust.

Around 2006, Gary retired, and that same year Wayne Bryant joined the team under the leadership of Don, who played a key role as both owner and mentor. During this time, Wayne developed not only his technical skills but also a deep respect for the values the business was built on.

At the end of 2019, Don announced his retirement, marking the end of an era. In 2020, Wayne and his wife, Sarah, proudly purchased the business, continuing the legacy while bringing their own vision to the future. With that transition came a new name—Bowie Transmission & Auto—reflecting both growth and a broader commitment to serving customers.

That same year brought major life changes. In February, Wayne and Sarah were preparing to welcome their first child, and by March, the country was facing the uncertainty of a global pandemic. As new business owners and soon-to-be parents, it was a season filled with both excitement and challenge. Thankfully, as an essential business, the shop was able to remain open and continue serving the community.

The first year of ownership came with long hours, difficult decisions, and a strong determination to preserve the legacy that Don and Gary built—one that will never be forgotten. Through it all, Wayne and Sarah focused on learning, growing as leaders, and working towards building a team that reflects their values: honesty, hard work, and a strong family-oriented culture.

Today, Bowie Transmission & Auto continues that journey. With a deep respect for the past and a clear vision for the future, the goal remains the same—to provide quality work, stand behind every job, and treat every customer like family.
